Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant

In 2009, Turcas signed a partnership agreement with the German RWE AG Group, one of the world’s largest energy companies, to undertake a large-scale natural gas-fired power plant investment and established the joint venture company RWE & Turcas Güney Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (RWE & Turcas).

The Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, with an installed capacity of 800 MW and an investment cost of approximately 600 million euros, commenced commercial operation on June 22, 2013, following technical acceptance by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye. With an annual electricity generation capacity exceeding 6 billion kWh, the plant is operated by RWE & Turcas, which is based in our country, including all units and functions. RWE & Turcas has no financial debt on its balance sheet, which sets it apart from other market players. Since it began operations in 2013, the plant has created value by maintaining an average high availability rate of over 92%. With its production flexibility, the power plant responds to load-up/load-down instructions from the system operator TEİAŞ, thereby supporting grid and supply security. The power plant also operates in ancillary services markets through its production flexibility and serves as one of TEİAŞ’s primary service providers for secondary frequency control. In addition, by utilizing various trading channels through bilateral agreements and transactions in the day-ahead and intraday markets, the power plant remains one of the most active plants in the market. In particular, by responding to the growing need for flexible production, driven by the year-over-year increase in solar and wind-based electricity generation and the relatively dry conditions experienced in 2025, within the framework of its commercial strategies, our Company successfully achieved its 2025 commercial targets. In terms of Occupational Health and Safety, thanks to the high level of sensitivity we have consistently demonstrated in operating our power plant since day one, no lost-time incidents occurred in 2025.
