Shell & Turcas has created employment opportunities for more than 2,000 women under the “Women Energy at Shell” social investment program, which is a first in the fuel industry, since its introduction, to support women’s employment, which is an important priority for our country.
With the “Women Energy at Shell” program, which was launched in March 2018 to support women’s employment, women are provided with the opportunity to work in different positions such as station manager, front-line salesperson, market salesperson, shift supervisor, accounting staff and administrative affairs specialist. With the program, which was implemented in cooperation with İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) under the guidance of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, it was shown that women can work in the fuel industry, and that roles in this industry were not necessarily tailored towards men. At stations with female employees, service quality increased, while customer satisfaction improved. According to the research which was conducted in this area, it was observed that customer satisfaction increased by 3 percent in stations with female employees. This number is planned to reach 5,000 in 2023, which is the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey as well as the 100th year of Shell’s operations in Turkey.
